Love Poem

When I was a boy, I had lots of fun, looking back I'm still not done.
I've had many friends throughout my life, even a couple I would call my wife.
Been through a ton in this short time, kind of hard to find words that rhyme.

Love is an amazing thing, it is indeed, like a roller coaster that's full of speed.
It can be for the best, it can be for the worst. But it really makes you want to burst.
It makes you keeps in the deepest secrets, and you know it's truly hard to speak-it.

I wish I was Romeo and Superman, wishing I could save the day.
It doesn't matter now, even if I may.
I will never be a hero for the part.
Just looking to fill the gap that's in my heart.
I know I will go through many ups and downs.
Not caring if I get the "royal" crown.

Now I can see, that I do not need all this.
Hoping one day for that kiss.
I know what you're thinking, I'm still fourteen.
But I'm the king and she's the queen.
I am already Romeo, in my own way I just might.
Find my true love somewhere tonight.

Meeting Pelé

If I could meet a famous athlete, who would it be and why? I would want to meet Pelé because he is practically the best soccer player of all time. Everyone likes Messi and/or Ronaldo, but the "King of Football" will always be Pelé. He is also an inspiration to many aspiring soccer players like myself. Edson Arantes do Nascimento was born in Brazil. A poor black boy who grew up kicking wadded up socks as a ball, later turning into the phenomenon known as Pelé. He is a big role model for me beacuse he is a 5'8" guy ,who is devout in his faith, and likes to kick the ball around. Although I will probably not live up to his legend, I still use his lifestyle as a mirror for mine in a way. He is just really cool and skillful. He is like the Emeril Lagasse of soccer. I know you probably not want me to ramble on about soccer, but Pelé has three World Cups, 3 Jules Rimet trophies, and has scored a record 1,283 goals in only 1,366 matches. That's roughly a goal a match! That is why I would love to meet Pelé.

Individualism vs. Collectivism

Individualism and collectivism are two types of societies in the world we live in today. In Ayn Rand's book, "Anthem", collectivism is what her society of one world government live in. The former Soviet Union of Russia used this type of society where the group is more important than oneself. Many communist countries use this way of everyday life. It seems like a good idea, where everyone is treated as equals and all get the same wages. The thing is, it is very difficult to take ones individuality away. This is why communism, in this case collectivism, can and will never completely work. In countries like the United Sates use the idea of individualism as a style of common life. Individualism is the belief that stresses the ideas of oneself and NOT the group. It is practically the exact opposite of what collectivism is. Individualism like collectivism, seems like a god idea because it lets people express their inner selves and break free of the social "norms" of life. It can be a bad thing because it might give people the false idea that they can be themselves and not follow the laws in which they live in. They are both extremely good ideas, but they cannot work because it will always create strife with and about the other one. Maybe if we were to somehow combine the two so it could incorporate having priorities about the group but still care for yourself, then we could create a more perfect society.
