Act 5

I think Romeo and Juliet are seen as heroes because of their motives and love for each other. In the beginning of the play, they were viewed as fools because why would a Montague love a Capulet. At the end of Act 5, Scene 3, lines 296-310, The Capulets and Montagues come together in grief of their children. In line 304, Capulet says, "Poor sacrifices of our enmity." He has said that Romeo and Juliet were brave enough to "sacrifice their love to end the feud".

Act 4

I think that William Shakespeare portrays the Capulets as villains. They are trying to cause trouble with the Montagues (Tybalt), and they are trying to get their daughter married to a guy she doesn't even like (Juliet's parents). They also enjoy insulting their own servants.  In Act 4,  Scene 4, lines 15-24, Lord Capulet said to one of his servants, "Thou shalt be loggerhead." This is a  derogatory term for a stupid person. This is why the Capulets are viewed as villains.

Act 3, Secnes 1-3

I think that Romeo has a very pessimistic view on being banished, while Juliet has a "double edged" reaction. When the nurse confronts Juliet about the news of Tybalt's death by Romeo in lines 37-143, Juilet starts to say these oxymorons like: "A Damned Saint, and Honorable Villain". Juliet is angry that Romeo murdered him. She is comparing Romeo to these things while thinking, "Why could my lord slay my cousin?" She changes her look and starts feeling bad for Romeo. Meanwhile Friar Laurence tells Romeo that the "Prince's Doom" is Romeo's exile. Romeo then says in lines 12-14, "Ha, Banishment? Be merciful, say 'death'; For exile hath more terror in his look, Much more than death. Do not say banishment." Romeo then says that flies will be able to get closer to Juliet than him. This is why Juliet has a "wishy-washy" reaction while Romeo is being negative (like usual).

Act 2, Scenes 3-6

I think that when Romeo says that his joy is, "worth their lives", he is being a bit over dramatic. Even though that they might be separated because of their family feud, it is a little exaggerated to say the can lose their lives. I knoe that they both die at the end, but that's not the point. In Act 2, Scene 4, lines 148-180, during the conversation between Romeo and the nurse, the nurse says about Juliet, "O, there is a nobleman in town, one Paris, that would fain lay knife aboard; but she, good soul, had as lief see a toad, a very toad, as see him. I anger her sometimes, and tell her that Paris is the properer man; but I'll warrant you, when i say so, she looks as pale as any clout in the versal world." What the nurse means by this is that Juliet does not love Paris and views him as a toad, and that she is angered when one mentions his proposal. When Romeo hears this, he realizes that Juliet doesn't have feelings for another, but towards him. It pretty much sums up to as, "Juliet is single and disinterested in Paris, now is the time to make my move (Propose)"

Act 2, Scenes 1-2

I think that Romeo and Juliet's love for each other is quite difficult. On one hand, the two fell instantly in love after meeting at the party, but on the other hand, when Romeo is discussing his feelings toward Juliet in "secret", she replies by saying,  "O Romeo, Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo?"  Juliet is saying why does Romeo have to be her enemy, why does her one,  true love have to be the opposition to her family? They later talk about meeting up thrnext day. Romeo and Juliet's love is really heart felt, but at the same time, they barely know each other that well.

Act 1, Scenes 4-5

I think Mercutio is the perfect "foil" character for Romeo because when he is faced with a problem, he tackles it head on instead of Romeo, moping around being depressed. In Act 1, Scene 4, Mercutio tells Romeo, "If love be rough with you, be rough with love." This means that when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. If you are put in a bad situation, make the best of it. Romeo also is weary about the dance because of his dream, while Mercutio is telling Romeo not to believe it fully. This is why Mercutio is such a great foil character for Romeo.

Act 1, Scene 1

I think Romeo is a emotionally unstable teenage boy. He is lovestruck for Rosaline, but she does not feel the same way. In Scene 1 of Act 1, in lines 201-202, Romeo states that, "She'll not be hit with Cupid's arrow." This line practically states that Rosaline is uninterested in a relationship. Romeo is also very sad because of this, but his friend Benvolio is trying to cheer him up, by telling to look for other girls. In a more "dumbed down" term, he says, "There are plenty of other fish in the sea."

Duet with Paul McCartney

If I could be in a duet with any musician in history, I would choose Paul McCartney. The lead singer of the Beatles, he is a man of his worth. He has performed in many historical venues, with the Beatles, and on his own with "Paul McCartney and the Wings". He might be getting up there in age, but he can still sing. Another reason I would like to sing with him is because he is an amazing piano player. There are many other good pianists like Billy Joel, Elton John, and Freddie Mercury. I belive that Paul is the best out of all of them. He is an exceptionally famous and awarded man. The type of song I would sing would be any of the Beatles classic songs: Yellow Submarine, Hey Jude, Hard Days Night, Let it Be, Here Comes the Sun, and many more. A man who has been knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his, "services to music" should be honored for his impact on not just British culture but also more or less American culture. Even at the age of 74, in an interview he was asked about his retirement and he replied, "Why would I retire? Sit at home and watch TV? No thanks. I'd rather be out playing."

Springtime is Here!

Spring is a great thing. It marks the end of a cold, bitter Winter, and the beginning of a beautiful return of animals, plants, and people stuck in their houses because of snow. Spring is the time to bring out those grills from your shed, and time to go buy a kite to fly around in those windy May days. What I personally like to do is to start getting ready for summer because everyone knows that's swimsuit season. I like Spring but the thing I absolutely hate about it is the allergies. The pollen, animals winter coats shedded, and the wind that spreads the pollen. I am severely affected by these things, but I try not to let it lower my positive attitude towards Spring. You can't really throw parties or get-togethers in the Winter, except New Years, but you can definitely throw some nice shindigs when the snow melts and the temperature gets warmer. My family and I like to ride bikes on hiking trails during the Spring better than the summer because it is usually not too terribly hot. This is what Spring is all about. Spring is about getting back outside and spending time with friends and family. It might not be perfect bonfire weather, but depending on where you live, it could be. Spring is when all the farmers and such start to plant their fruits and veggies for profit. Trust me when I say, I love to earn me some money. I really love Spring Break because I get a week off from school to go on a vacation. This is what Spring is to me.

Kids' Show

If I had a show for kids it would obviously be educational. My show would be about language barriers and being able to communicate with people of different languages. The show would be called "Around the World".  The main character would be a guy called Mikey Wordsworth, and he would have a hot air balloon. He would travel to a different country each episode and explain the culture of that country. The show would air at 4:30 p.m. The show would also be for 7-13 year olds because it might be a little too advance for toddlers. Each episode Mikey would wear something or have something that gave hints to what country he was in. I. E. He would have on bleu, blanc, et rouge to show he was in France. He would show kids cultural etiquette and traditions used by each country. He would also teach the kids about all the different major religions of the country. He wouldn't go into much detail, but just talk about them. Then each couple of episodes, the antagonist, Dr. Antihero, will try and trick the kids by asking them questions about the country Mikey just visited, and it's an interactive TV show, so it will have a question on the screen with numbered answers and if the kid chooses the right number, then Mikey will use one of his magic disappearing cubes and use on Dr. Antihero. If they get it wrong then He asks another question. That's what my TV show would be about.

I knew when I looked up and saw Cupid with his bow, I knew that I was in trouble. I was working on the fields with my uncle who lives in Germany. We were tending the cows, the usual milking and feeding, when suddenly a weird looking baby-like creature came out of nowhere and 360 no-scoped me right in the left buttock. I had fallen under der the spell that I was either in love with my uncle, or those fine looking cows. I wanted to go and kiss the cows, while my uncle was trying to convince me not to. He said to me, "You idiot, why the heck would you fall in love with a cow?" I didn't have an answer to give him. Then Cupid returned in an even stranger reincarnation. He appeared as a hybrid puppy mixed with a monkey and a baby at the same time, extremely attractive. You could even call it a "Puppymonkeybaby". It said that the spell was wearing off and I would return to normal. I started hallucinating and saw Cupid as Yoda. The last thing I can remember that he told me was, "Love leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering."

Love Poem

When I was a boy, I had lots of fun, looking back I'm still not done.
I've had many friends throughout my life, even a couple I would call my wife.
Been through a ton in this short time, kind of hard to find words that rhyme.

Love is an amazing thing, it is indeed, like a roller coaster that's full of speed.
It can be for the best, it can be for the worst. But it really makes you want to burst.
It makes you keeps in the deepest secrets, and you know it's truly hard to speak-it.

I wish I was Romeo and Superman, wishing I could save the day.
It doesn't matter now, even if I may.
I will never be a hero for the part.
Just looking to fill the gap that's in my heart.
I know I will go through many ups and downs.
Not caring if I get the "royal" crown.

Now I can see, that I do not need all this.
Hoping one day for that kiss.
I know what you're thinking, I'm still fourteen.
But I'm the king and she's the queen.
I am already Romeo, in my own way I just might.
Find my true love somewhere tonight.

Meeting Pelé

If I could meet a famous athlete, who would it be and why? I would want to meet Pelé because he is practically the best soccer player of all time. Everyone likes Messi and/or Ronaldo, but the "King of Football" will always be Pelé. He is also an inspiration to many aspiring soccer players like myself. Edson Arantes do Nascimento was born in Brazil. A poor black boy who grew up kicking wadded up socks as a ball, later turning into the phenomenon known as Pelé. He is a big role model for me beacuse he is a 5'8" guy ,who is devout in his faith, and likes to kick the ball around. Although I will probably not live up to his legend, I still use his lifestyle as a mirror for mine in a way. He is just really cool and skillful. He is like the Emeril Lagasse of soccer. I know you probably not want me to ramble on about soccer, but Pelé has three World Cups, 3 Jules Rimet trophies, and has scored a record 1,283 goals in only 1,366 matches. That's roughly a goal a match! That is why I would love to meet Pelé.

Individualism vs. Collectivism

Individualism and collectivism are two types of societies in the world we live in today. In Ayn Rand's book, "Anthem", collectivism is what her society of one world government live in. The former Soviet Union of Russia used this type of society where the group is more important than oneself. Many communist countries use this way of everyday life. It seems like a good idea, where everyone is treated as equals and all get the same wages. The thing is, it is very difficult to take ones individuality away. This is why communism, in this case collectivism, can and will never completely work. In countries like the United Sates use the idea of individualism as a style of common life. Individualism is the belief that stresses the ideas of oneself and NOT the group. It is practically the exact opposite of what collectivism is. Individualism like collectivism, seems like a god idea because it lets people express their inner selves and break free of the social "norms" of life. It can be a bad thing because it might give people the false idea that they can be themselves and not follow the laws in which they live in. They are both extremely good ideas, but they cannot work because it will always create strife with and about the other one. Maybe if we were to somehow combine the two so it could incorporate having priorities about the group but still care for yourself, then we could create a more perfect society.
